Managing Obstacles in Meditation and Life

Having learned the technique of Mindfulness meditation, this class focuses on how to manage obstacles in the way of continuing with meditation and being Mindful. Obstacles to Mindfulness and meditation are the same obstacles we encounter during our daily life and in our relationship to all things. Lethargy, restlessness, aversion, craving and doubt are major obstacles start to grow in our psyche from childhood. Learning to recognize and manage these obstacles will enhance our ability to be Mindful, present and peaceful under any circumstance.
*This is an in-depth class about how to overcome blocks we experience in our Mindfulness practice.
General practice topics include:
- Continuing to deepen the practice of Mindfulness towards greater happiness
- Cultivating deeper sitting and walking meditation Deeper Metta (Loving/Kindness) practices
- Cultivating richer understanding of obstacles in the way of lasting happiness
- Working with physical discomfort in meditation
- Working towards spiritual development (emotional maturity)
- Enhancing compassion and love for self and others
- Deepening related topics offered in foundation courses
Each series will focus on specific topics woven throughout the course. This specific course will focus on how to have equanimity in times of turmoil. Here you will learn how to have a strong practice and understanding even in the most difficult of times.
This 6 week course is for experienced meditators and or those who have taken MAPS I & II and or MAPS I & Managing the Obstacles to Mindfulness or all three. If you have not taken a MAPs I and MAPs II but believe you still qualify for the class please email Dr. Manijeh Motaghy a brief description of your equivalent experience at Manijeh@perfectlyhere.org before class start date.
Dr. Manijeh Motaghy – A Founder, Executive Director and Teacher at Perfectly Here. She is also the Founder and CEO of Mindful Business Institute. Location and Parking Instructions
This class will take place in Tarzana at: 19100 Ventura Blvd #5, Los Angeles, CA 91356. Parking is free and there no time limits in the front after 6:00pm. There are also plenty of free parking in the lot behind Tarzana Cultural Center. When you arrive at the shopping center go to the second floor and go all the way to the East side of the building. Go into the hallway and we will be the last door on the right.
Refund, Make-up and Cancellation Policy
Class Refunds must be requested before 5pm on Friday of the first week of class. There will be a $25 administrative fee. After the first Friday we cannot give refunds. Refunds should be requested by emailing: firstname.lastname@example.org. Perfectly Here reserves the right to cancel classes due to low enrollment. Registrants will be notified in advance of the class.No refunds or credits are given to registrant “no-shows”.
If you miss a class, you may make it up during a current series or the series immediately following. No refund or prorate will be issued for missed classes. Students may Postpone a class. In this case, credit towards a future class will be provided if a registrant notifies us by phone or email in advance of 5pm on Friday of the first week of the class series. Future class must be made up on the class immediately following the missed class series. (For example: if postponing a May/June class series you will have to use your credit and enroll in the July/August class series)
What to Bring
All you need is comfortable clothing. Chairs and cushions are provided.
We allow no more than 30 students per class.
We offer special pricing for seniors (+65) and students.
