Mindfully Relaxed Parenting
Today’s parenting is stressful. School testing, social media, bullying, vaccinations, just to name a few of the stressors. An answer for this stew of concerns is mindfulness.
Mindfulness is often thought of as an individual practice to help alleviate stress and live a happier life. In addition, new studies are demonstrating when mindfulness is applied to parenting the results can be dramatic for both the parents and children.
Perfectly Here is happy to announce a six-week class on Mindful Parenting. Participants will practice mindfulness meditation, learn the tools of mindfulness and how those tools can be applied to everyday parenting challenges. Applying the methods of mindfulness when engaging children includes mindfully listening, understanding the coping strategies of their children, and reflecting on positive and negative parenting practices.
The class is taught by Joel McNenny, a school counselor for twenty years, a trained clinical therapist, a meditation teacher and a parent.
Through a variety of teaching strategies including meditation, group discussions and hand-on activities, he will engage the participants to become more mindful in their parenting, leading to a better relationship with their children and a happier healthier home environment.
