Mindful Parenting Class
Perfectly Here is happy to announce a six-week, Introductory Mindfulness class on Mindful Parenting. New studies are demonstrating when Mindfulness is applied to parenting, the results can be dramatic for both the parents and children.
Weathering our children’s emotional storms can be difficult. Instead of calming the storm, we often find ourselves churning the waves even further. Managing our own emotions and behaviors is the key to teaching our children how to manage theirs. By noticing our own feelings when we’re in conflict with our child, learning to pause before responding in anger and listening carefully to our child’s viewpoint even when disagreeing with it, we as parents can reflect an equanimity that leads to a happier, healthier home environment.
The class is taught by Joel McNenny, a school counselor for twenty years, a trained clinical therapist, a meditation teacher and a parent.
Through a variety of teaching strategies, hands-on activities, group discussions and reflection, participants will practice Mindfulness meditation and learn how the tools of Mindfulness can be applied to everyday parenting challenges.
