    Refuge Recovery 12 Step Meetings

6:30 to 8:00 PM every Saturday – Woodland Hills

*Note: Dr. Manijeh Motaghy provides a guided meditation and dharma talk on the first Saturday of each month at the Woodland Hills Refuge Recovery meeting.

A Note From Dr. Manijeh Motaghy

This Refuge Recovery meeting started in honor of my son, Kuroosh Kuchikali, who struggled with addiction to opioids and passed away on June 30th, 2017. We honor his intention, which was to start this meeting at our center for healing himself and others. Perfectly Here and its principals and teachers are not affiliated with Against The Stream nor Noah Levine, the founder of Refuge Recovery meetings. However, we are grateful for this opportunity and trust in the effectiveness of Refuge Recovery meetings because the principals laid out are based on the Buddha’s teachings. We know that these teachings can lead those of us, who practice and uphold them, to the end of suffering. Please attend and see if this is for you. May the goodness of your effort and intention benefit you and all beings.

    Overview

Refuge Recovery is a Buddhist Based 12 Step program based on the 4 Noble Truths and the Noble Eight-fold Path. More importantly, the program is based on compassion for all.  Furthermore, it is open all members of the community, families and friends of the addict/alcoholics.

The Four Noble Truths of the Refuge Recovery Program:

    1. Addiction creates suffering “We take stock of all the suffering we have experienced and caused as addicts”
    2. The cause of addiction is repetitive craving “We investigate the causes and conditions that lead to addiction and begin the process of letting go.”
    3. Recovery is possible “We come to understand that recovery is possible and take refuge in the path that leads to the end of addiction”
    4. The path to recovery is available “We engage in the process of the Noble Eight-fold Path that leads to recovery”

    The Noble Eight-fold Path

    1. Wise Understanding
    2. Wise Intention
    3. Wise Communication / Community
    4. Wise Action
    5. Wise Livelihood / Service
    6. Wise Effort
    7. Wise Mindfulness
    8. Wise Concentration
