Dr. Howard Blumenfeld
Howard Blumenfeld, Ph.D. received his doctorate in Psychology and is a licensed Marriage Family Therapist. He specializes in treating stress disorders and has been teaching people how to reduce their stress since 1977.
In 1995, he participated in a week long Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction (MBSR) training program for healthcare professionals directed by Jon Kabat-Zinn, Ph.D. and Saki Santorelli, Ed.D.
Howard is a long-time meditation student of Shinzen Young, who is the founder of Vipassana Support International (VSI), and has been trained by Shinzen as a Mindfulness meditation facilitators with VSI. In Nov. of 2013 he began participating in a Vipassana 2 year program exploring ageing, illness and death, sponsored by Spirit Rock Retreat Center and the Metta Foundation.
Howard has been offering Mindfulness based training programs through his Valley Village, California private practice and has been teaching Mindfulness meditation on local and international retreats. In 2001 to 2010 he joined the staff of Cri-Help, substance abuse treatment centers, providing Mindfulness meditation training for their staff and residents. From 2005 to 2011, he was affiliated with the UCLA Mindful Living Project research studies as a MBSR teacher. In 2008 he introduced Mindfulness training to the guests of weSPARK Cancer Support Center.

Shannon Lawler is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (MFC#48484) with a specialization in pregnancy, early motherhood and early childhood. She has a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from California State University Northridge, and has worked clinically for the past 10 years building healthy parent-child relationships and supporting secure attachments. During this time, Shannon has also been studying and practicing Mindfulness daily, and has integrated this practice throughout her own pregnancies and journey into motherhood.
Ron Ames is a meditation practitioner who has studied with both Trudy Goodman and Noah Levine. He is currently a member of Spirit Rock’s Dedicated Practitioner’s Program. Ron serves as a member on InsightLA’s Executive Council. He is a teacher in training with Trudy Goodman in InsightLA’s first teacher training cohort. Ron has a deep interest in the Twelve Steps particularly as they relate to meditation practice. He works in the film industry as a Producer and 1st Assistant Director on feature films.
Dr. Manijeh Motaghy

Looking for the truth and peace, Manijeh communed with nature since she was three years old. She started practicing yoga in 1994 and came to Mindfulness in an undergrad class in 2004. Being overjoyed by finally finding a formal practice and teaching that she had all her life sought and intuitively applied, she delved deeply into the experiential Mindfulness practices and other Buddhist teachings that support Mindfulness.
Dr. Motaghy published the COMANDS: Seven Skills/Traits of Effective Leadership, a mindfulness-based leadership model to help leaders shape their skills in an organic way that is realistic, effective and considerate of what their followers need and respond to.
Developed:The Mindful Employees (ME) Program, an employee wellness and performance and engagement enhancement training for organizations……and designed numerous other curricula such as DOUBLE-AIM for adults with ADHD and other curricula for cancer patients and their families. She has trained and taught Mindfulness to hundreds of individuals, executives and staff at corporations such as Health Net, and Motion Picture Fund & Television Hospital.
Dr. Motaghy is a Certified Mindfulness Facilitator by the UCLA Department of Psychiatry and Board of Behavioral Sciences and an Authorized MAPS Teacher by the UCLA Mindful Awareness Research Center. She teaches these courses in the San Fernando Valley, Los Angeles, CA.
She has provided mindfulness workshops, presentation and training for academic sectors such as the LAUSD and private schools such as Campbell Hall, state-wide professional conferences such as Promising Practices at California State University of Northridge and Girls Scouts of America, local mental health centers such as SFV Community Mental Health Center, and JAS for Social Workers, as well as other health-support organizations such as Leeza’s Place and The Laurel Foundation (AIDS support), Child Development Institute, Jennifer Diamond Cancer Foundation and WeSpark Cancer Support Center where she has conducted weekly sessions for the past 3 years. She has organized and lead over 45 day-long retreats including Work-Life Balance and continues to lead weekly Mindfulness study groups in Hollywood, Sherman Oaks, Studio City, Calabasas and, West Hills. Manijeh is committed to her own personal daily practice and development of Mindfulness.
RELATED TRAINING & EXPERIENCE: Dr. Motaghy continues to study and practice Mindfulness and other Buddhist teachings with teachers at the Abhayagiri Monastery as well as other secular groups. Sousan Amiri, M.S, LMFT is a licensed Psychotherapist specialized in working with children, individuals, and families integrating psychotherapy and the world of Attachment Focused Therapy which considers the latest advances in the neuro-biology of interpersonal behavior and how this affects relationships and behaviors. Jonathan Troen is a certified Iyengar Yoga instructor, Life Coach and Meditation Leader. However, it was a journey that brought this entrepreneur to his current fortune in life.
Jonathan’s first career was in the entertainment industry. At 17, Jonathan was producing the #1 morning show at #1 radio station in Boston, WBCN-FM. After traveling and working in London, Copenhagen and Seville, Spain, Jonathan returned to the United States and settled in Los Angeles, California, where he launched the legendary online music destination L.A. Live, introducing the first ever ongoing series of live concerts and interviews on the Internet, featuring the biggest pop and rock stars in the world. In addition, he produced some of the most successful online events for major entertainment and technology companies, including Sony, Universal, Warner Bros, VH1 and Microsoft.

This growth led Jonathan to embark on a new path: having achieved many successes, Jonathan decided it was time to give back, to share his energies, passions and knowledge.
Today his precise yet caring teaching style inspires his students to find new depths within themselves as they strive for alignment both within their body and within their lives. By combining life coaching with meditation and yoga, his practice is aimed at helping individuals overcome personal roadblocks to create their own successful and balanced lives.
